In the instances where you have injured workers, it is vital that they are provided outcome-focussed Occupational Therapy to assist them with their Return to Work. AWS provides Occupational Therapy Services aimed at enabling injured workers to return to suitable duties as soon as possible. Services include:

• Activity of Daily Living Assessments and Training
  Whilst it is important for injured workers to have suitable duties when they return to work, it is just as essential to determine what
  duties and tasks they are able to safely perform in the home environment. Our team of qualified Occupational Therapists are able to
  work with your injured workers to evaluate their capacities outside the workplace and provide training to cope with changes in these. Education is also provided, reducing the potential for further injury. Additionally, AWS Assessments help to determine the need for
  home modifications and equipment to be installed.

• Manual Handling Advice
  AWS Occupational Therapists are able to train your staff in effective Manual Handling Techniques that help to reduce the risk of injury.
  In addition to ensuring legal compliance this in turn can decrease your premiums and 'downtime' with injured workers. AWS Manual
  Handling Training ensures skills are developed in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control Strategies to ensure
  all risks are managed.

• Functional Capacity Evaluation
  Conducting Functional Capacity Evaluations on injured workers provides concise, objective and detailed information in relation to
  the individual's ability to perform duties at work. AWS uses a combination of standardised assessment processes with tailored
  assessing to ensure a comprehensive and cost effective outcome.

• Workplace and Ergonomic Assessments and Job Analysis
  To reduce the risk of an injury or reinjury, it is important that the employees' workplace and job is safe and healthy. AWS
  Occupational Therapists are equipped to evaluate the workplace (whether these be on-site at the organisation or in a home office environment) to ensure the risk of injury or reinjury are minimal. The assessment also covers general health and safety issues.
  It is recommended that the Occupational Therapist conducting the assessment also develop a Suitable Duties Program to
  ensure a safe return to work.

• Driving Assessments and Retraining
  When a worker sustains an injury on the job, on most occasions their driving ability is affected. AWS Occupational Therapists are
  able to assess an injured worker's driving ability and provide modifications and retraining when required. Employers can
  consequently improve employee driving ability (with modification if required), and reduce the risk of further injury to the injured
  worker. The chance of injuring another person through driver negligence, is also reduced.
