Injury Management and Return to Work Services
Assisting employers to help injured workers return to work
Despite efforts to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, there are occasions when a worker sustains an injury in the workplace. When these occur the employer has an obligation to assist that worker with their Return to Work (RTW), whether this be in their pre-injury role or otherwise. A safe and early RTW results in less costs to a business and improved results for the injured employee. AWS Injury Management and RTW services include:
- Return to Work (RTW) Case Management (including Comcare)
- Comprehensive Third Party (CTP) Case Management
- Return to Work (RTW) / Suitable Duties Programs
Many workers following a workplace injury are able to return to pre-injury duties or similar duties. AWS is able to identify and monitor suitable duties for the worker, and tailor programs to facilitate the worker's safe RTW.
- Assistance for Employees with Difficulties at Work
AWS will provide assistance to employees having difficulties at work due to workplace injury or ailment. Our programs are tailored
to each individual with the aim of reducing the risk of that employee sustaining a more serious injury, re-injury or aggravation of an existing injury and to assist them to adjust and manage the change. AWS also has trained professionals able to address conflict in the workplace and other workplace issues.
- Retraining Programs
Injured workers are sometimes required to develop new knowledge and workplace skills which can all be provided through retraining. AWS Retraining Programs are individual or group based, and are designed to educate workers to gain new work skills.
- Job Seeking Groups / Services
Job Seeking is a difficult task for anyone; however, the level of difficulty escalates with the inclusion of a workplace injury.
AWS Job Seeking Groups and Services can assist injured workers to find alternative employment by developing their key job
seeking skills. Services include resume building, job search strategies, interview techniques and coping with change strategies.
- Medico-legal / S40 Assessments
At times, a Workers Compensation claim may be required to go through the legal system and as such, a Medico-legal / S40 Assessment may be necessary.
Such assessments provide information regarding the injured worker’s vocational options as well as an analysis of income loss as a direct result of the workplace injury, (depending on your needs).
- Vocational Assessments
Some injured workers are required to seek alternative job options as a result of a workplace injury. In the event that an injured worker is unable to return to pre-injury duties, AWS will provide assistance with careers counselling and testing, to determine appropriate vocational goals and options outside the original job
